Zemi Timeline
2nd Year
Media Design
The second year of the zemi focuses on providing students with media production skills. Student learn basic theories of media design, applying them to various projects aimed to foster and develop their skills.
3rd Year
Media Theory and Technology
In the third year of the zemi, students begin to study media theory within the context of business activity. We explore issues of marketing and branding from a media and communications perspective, touching upon theories developed in Japan and elsewhere such as narrative consumption, transmedia, and branding. We also cover issues related to technology and explore how technologies structure the possibilities of business activity and how people interact with the world.
4th Year
Media Entrepreneurship
The fourth and final year of the zemi asks students to apply what they have learned — both in the zemi and in the broader COB — to a graducation project. During this time, we cover the theory and practice of entrepreneurship, and students use this knowledge to develop something for sale at one of the many indie events in Tokyo. Past projects have been sold at Comiket and Tokyo Design Fest. Others projects have been distributed on Spotify.
